God’s Simple Plan of Salvation

Getting “saved” is not a complicated thing. When describing it in the bible, the Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 11:3 that it is actually quite simple. It is the Devil that tries to make it complicated or confusing by implementing religion and traditions that are contrary to the Bible. Religion of any kind is merely a manmade system through which man attempts to justify himself before God. Salvation begins when man realizes there is nothing he can do to justify himself before God.
To get saved you must first understand that you need to be saved.  That begins with accepting the fact that in God’s eyes you are lost. You are lost because you are a sinner and are thus unable to come to God:

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Not only are we all sinners but there is a penalty for it:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Because you are a sinner you will die and go to hell to pay for your own sins:

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Now all of that is really bad news. You’re a sinner and you deserve hell. But thankfully God made a way for your sins to be forgiven so that you can be saved from hell.

God Himself became a man, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, and laid down His life to die in our place, to pay the penalty of your sin and mine:

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

You are a sinner but Jesus Christ is the Saviour! It is He and He alone who can save you from your sins:

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Jesus Christ paid for your sins with His own blood on the cross:

Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Having done this for us, God offers us salvation: forgiveness of sins and eternal life by simply believing completely that His blood is sufficient to pay for and forgive your sins and that through His resurrection He is able to give you eternal life with Him in heaven. By believing in Him and putting our complete trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone to save you and take you to heaven when you die, you will be saved.

Notice these verses:

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Just to review and again show how simple God has made salvation, notice these two verses where a lost man asks Paul how to be saved, and how Paul answered him:

Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

God offers us salvation as a free gift that Jesus Christ bought and paid for. You must receive that gift freely by faith:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Lastly you can also be assured that once you accept Christ, you can never lose your salvation. The Lord Jesus Christ did the work to save you and He also does the work to keep you:

Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.  I and my Father are one.
